Sir, - I was saddened to see Oliver McGrane's letter (November 21st) in response to that of Angela Macnamara (November 15th).
He asks, in relation to the victims of recent terrorist attacks, "Where is God in all these situations?" The answer to that is God is everywhere.
Perhaps what Mr McGrane intended to ask is: "Why does God not intervene to prevent such horrors?"
God has done so a number of times - on Mount Sinai to give us the Decalogue; about 2000 years ago to give us the way; and through the teachings of prophets such as Muhammad and others.
To me it does not seem reasonable to also expect the Almighty to go round knocking on people's doors before they do what He has already told them not to, crying: "You're making a haimes of it. Do what I've already told you", or words to that effect. Not, as John Wayne would say, hardly. - Yours, etc.,
