Sir, - Regarding your recent series by Frank McDonald on development in the west, it is incorrect for Camille Souter to state that "everything is up for grabs." Every bungalow site has a price hut obviously no communal value.
What is frightening and up for grabs are our rivers.
Over the past six months huge stretches of the Camac river have been taken from the public and culverted for private gain. There is a huge communal value on rivers but, unlike bungalow sites, there is no price on river lots.
Neither councillors, TDs nor planners have the courage and/or ability to ask how our rivers can be taken from the public and buried for private, individual gain. - Yours, etc.,
