A chara, - Two South Belfast SDLP spokesmen (letters to the editor, March 20th) encourage investors to stay out of West Belfast because the political conflict has not been resolved. They ask: does Sinn Fein know of one foreign company which would "choose to start operations" in the area in the present political climate? Yes: Hutchinson Whampoa, Emerson Electric, and Europa Tool, to name three of many.
They are some of the firms which will generate nearly 2,900 jobs in West Belfast, through an investment of £284m over the past 18 months. Peace and political stability rightly remain the priority of business and political leaders, but no one - especially spokesmen for well off South Belfast - has the right to single out West Belfast (or, for that matter, unionist areas) for economic sanctions because the peace process is in tatters. - Is mise le meas,
