Wasteful Ireland

Sir, - I am a young American temporarily working in Ireland. I am outraged by the lack of recycling in this country. I have worked for three major corporations in Dublin, one of which is a major international photocopying company. I have seen no recycling of paper whatsoever.

This is extremely perturbing. In the US I have never heard of a company, large or small, that does not recycle. The vast majority of Dubliners do not recycle paper, bottles or tin cans. It is about time that Ireland lived up to its new status as an economically emerging nation and stopped wasting natural resources. - Yours, etc.,
