Sir, - I have followed with interest the debate on emigrant votes. As an Irishman (with American citizenship) living in Switzerland, I find it somewhat amusing that I am entitled to vote in elections in the US but not in the country of my birth.
On the other hand, I pay my taxes to the US so I should have a say in how my tax money is going to be spent. So here is my proposal only Irish tax filers should be allowed to vote in Ireland. That would make life a lot easier for the vote counters. - Yours, etc.,
