Sir, - Although I'm becoming increasingly accustomed to the presence of closed-circuit TV cameras in stores, and even on the public streets, I had assumed there were some places where one would be unobserved. It appears I was wrong. Yesterday, passing through the Stena Line terminal at Fishguard, I decided to visit the men's room, and was astonished to find that it was under video surveillance.

Mercifully, the cubicles appeared to provide a modicum of privacy, but the rest of the area was not only under scrutiny but, no doubt, being videotaped. I am sure we are all familiar with the appalling television programmes compiled from security camera footage. You know the type of thing: World's Dumbest Criminals, Scariest Car Chases Ever, etc. May we now look forward to a compilation of lavatorial mishaps? I wonder what they'll call it. How about Comic Relief? - Yours, etc., Paul Griffin,
