Sir I remember a few years ago I was in a house where they were taking up old carpet and replacing it. Underneath the old carpet were some old newspapers from 1961 or 1963. On the front page of a Sunday newspaper was an article about a man who, while cycling his bike in O'Connell Street, had accidentally knocked down a pedestrian. We all looked at each other and laughed at the innocence of it all. One of the men lifting the carpet remarked "It must have been a quiet day in Dublin, that day." How things have changed. - Yours, etc.,
