MARY STEWART,
Madam, - "Whatever you do, don't mention the war", Harry Browne wrote in a recent radio review. Yes, indeed. We are ill served by our national broadcaster when it comes to asking the hard questions of a superpower. It is most galling to have to listen to RTÉ skirting round the issue of the US preparation for war, while the majority of people here and, no doubt, worldwide, do not want war. As it is, by what authority are the US and Britain bombing Iraq daily at present?
What is democracy when the will of the people can be thwarted at every turn? - Yours, etc.,
MARY STEWART,
