Sir, - As a Christian and a believer in the Fifth Commandment, which clearly and unequivocally prohibits the premeditated taking of human life, I am appalled by the US action in Afghanistan and Sudan.
War from the air invariably results in the deaths of unarmed civilians. The high-tech air warrior can obliterate an entire village, town or even city along with its inhabitants, men, women and children, from a great distance, by merely pressing a button. How else can such an act be described but as an act of terror? It is as obscene and as atrocious as any acts of terror carried out on the ground by dissident groups in our own and other societies. - Yours, etc.,
