Madam, – Did Kate Holmquist (Give Me a Break, May 25th) read PJ Mac Gabhann’s article on the Dreamland exhibition in Paris devoted to the history of theme parks (Beocheist, May 25th)?
Her proposal to turn Ireland into such a park has very worthy antecedents. If An Túr Eiffel alone can attract seven million visitors in one year, how many would visit “Irishland” with its multitude of attractions? As we all know, Ireland is shaped like a saucer, so it should be comparatively easy to put a roof over the midlands, thus ensuring that every day spent by visitors on the bog was a sunny day.
