Sir, - On December 20th I met a very elderly wheelchair-bound passenger at Dublin Airport. She had flown "courtesy" of Aer Lingus from Cork to Dublin at the not inconsiderable cost of £93 return. She complained that she had been left sitting on the aircraft for some considerable time, while one crew left and the replacement crew arrived, that her luggage was not collected and that she was eventually delivered to arrivals by an Aer Rianta ambulanceman. She was in a very distraught state. All of this despite the fact that she had been booked on the flight clearly as a wheelchair passenger who would need assistance.
On January 3rd, having forgone the pleasure of return travel with Aer Lingus, the same passenger travelled by train from Dublin to Cork. I could not speak highly enough of Iarnrod Eireann's staff. I was afforded every help at Heuston Station by a young porter. He then rang ahead and had the same facilities in place at Cork.
