Sir, - When Mary Harney claims that the Irish economy is still fundamentally sound by using the metaphor of a car being driven at 70 instead of 100 m.p.h. (The Irish Times, November 9th) a number of questions arise.
Firstly, given the national speed limit, was she really telling us that the economy was overheating?
Secondly, it might have escaped her notice, but several US-made wheels appear to have come off lately.
