Sir, - Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Do the Taoiseach, the Tβnaiste and the Minister for Finance really expect us to believe that they are right in all things fiscal, when they are the ones who have been fooled by their own propaganda and spin? How can a diverse group such as Aer Lingus workers, taxi-drivers, doctors, nurses, teachers, garda∅, train-drivers, RT╔ and Irish Times staff be so wrong? These workers have only two things in common, and they are this: they all had good, secure jobs and now they don't; and, more importantly, they all provide a public service.
A garda and a teacher as a life couple can't afford to buy a house in any city or large town in this country. If that's what they call progress then I think the rest of us need to go to the same schools that the office-holders went to.
We will not be fooled twice. Roll on the election. - Yours, etc.,
John Fitzpatrick, Killala Road, Dublin 7.
