Sir, - Last week two young Germans in my charge as tour guide were waylaid in Dublin's Temple Bar and one of them robbed and injured. Never having been confronted with such a situation before I was most impressed With the gardai's response to and their sensitive handling of the case, undoubtedly one of many incidences of this kind in Dublin's inner city and in Dublin's South Central Garda Division in particular.

The shocked victim and myself were dropped down to the hospital, a report was delivered to the hostel we were staying in and one of the gardai made himself personally available during the following days to answer any questions we might have. All our queries were answered patiently and with genuine sympathy.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to the gardai from Pearse Street Station who were involved in the case and also to the passer by who was the first to help the youngster and stayed with us at Dame Street until we left for the hospital. Go raibh maith agaibh. - Yours, etc.,
