TIMING OF TRAFFIC LIGHTS

Madam, - It never ceases to amaze me how ludicrously shortsighted are our road policies. The speed limits are being enforced - this is good. New speed limits are being put in place in various areas - this is good. Has nobody thought of altering the traffic light sequences in our major towns and cities to facilitate smoother traffic flow in these new speed-limit areas?

It has long been a source of stress to urban commuters that once one gets through one red light, one sees another appearing not 50 yards ahead. Can this not be addressed? Come on, it's only maths, after all! - Yours etc.,
