Madam, – The biggest problem I encountered when using Dublin Bus service was the sense of uncertainty I felt every time I went to get a bus.
It is one of the least transparent services I have ever come across.
When I moved to Edinburgh, the first thing I noticed was that a bus timetable at each stop tells you what time the buses are due to arrive there, as opposed to the time they are due to leave the terminus. Very useful, I’m sure you’ll agree.
More recently, a bus tracker system has been introduced which allows the bus company to see where the buses are at any given time. It is connected to a visual display at most stops so you can tell how long you have to wait.
Finally, under the bus company’s policy, if a bus is well ahead of schedule it will pull up and stop for a minute or two to put some distance between it and the preceding bus. Ingenious.
Perhaps someone should tell Dublin Bus that these things are possible? – Yours, etc,
