Sir, – We, a group of Presentation Sisters, whose founding vision is the well-being of needy children, endorse Sr Stanislaus’s call to the Government to implement the National Action Plan for Social Inclusion and to re-establish the Combat Poverty Agency (May 5th).
Her letter is a grim warning of the effects of current austerity measures on the most powerless in society.
Like her, we are aware of the need for austerity measures, but feel strongly that the poorest should not suffer most, and especially that children should not lack the basic necessities of life. – Yours, etc,
