Madam, – As the Budget of December 7th looks like it is going to be a day “that will live in infamy” for most of the ordinary Irish people, might I make a suggestion? As President McAleese has likely the support of almost everybody in the country, would it not be the right thing to ask her to serve a third term during this crisis? She has proven herself over the last two terms to be a wonderful leader of the country (the only one). Also, we do not need, at this time to spend more money electing somebody else, when the old adage “if it ain’t broke” applies.
Franklin D Roosevelt was allowed serve three terms as the US president during the Great Depression and the second World War. Well, we certainly seem to have another Depression, whatever about another war. – Yours, etc,
