Madam, – John McManus (Business, July 12th) is quite correct in pointing out how little has changed in the culture of Irish banking that is still dominated by short-term thinking.
There is an acronym used hubristically in investment banking, consulting and legal circles in relation to actions with repercussions beyond the dismally close horizon on which such people operate but which will ensure their personal bonuses: IBGYBG (I’ll Be Gone, You’ll Be Gone). – Yours, etc,
