Sir, I read in your paper (October 16th) that King Hussein, on his first visit to the West Bank reasserted previous declarations that he no longer considered the tiny town and the West Bank part of his kingdom. I would think from my first hand knowledge of that area that he was more than delighted to be rid of it.

The Israelis returned the land they took from Egypt and made peace with them. King Hussein made peace with Israel without asking for his land back. If he had I would think he might have got it.

Making peace with King Hussein and making peace with President Yasser Arafat are very different. King Hussein could hold complete control of his region. I very much doubt if the President could. Yours, etc., Costelloe Lodge, Costelloe, Co Galway.
