Sir, - I feel it might be helpful for those who are trying sincerely to understand the Resurrection to read Parahampsa Yoganandra's famous book The Autobiography of a Yogi published by Rider and Co., available at most New Age bookshops.
Under the heading "The Science of Miracles", this remarkable modern saint explains how, "miracles" are performed. He then describes the resurrections, and the means by which they were accomplished, both of his own guru - Sri Yukestwar and also the latter's guru - Sri Lahiri Mayasari. Sri Yukestwar spent several hours talking with him in a solid physical body and in full daylight, several days after his old physical body had been cremated.
This body was the "body of incorruption" which St Paul clearly distinguishes from the dense "body of corruption," which we mercifully shed at death like a worn out boot. It is also known as the astral mental body and, by the church, as the "glorified body". It is already part of us and is immortal. But a disembodied great saint or yogi is able to lower its atomic vibration, for a while, and make it visible and tangible.
This is exactly what Jesus Christ did; and why He was able to appear and disappear at will, and also dine at Emmaus and eat fish in Jerusalem at the same time. This may seem far fetched, so I would rather people read Yogananda and judged for themselves. I myself only began to understand Christianity after reading him. - Yours, etc.,
