Sir, - Last week Prionsias De Rossa said that, nowadays, many couples were having children outside of marriage. He said that this fact must be accepted, and these couples should not be discriminated against and should get the same tax concessions as married couples.
Would Mr De Rossa also agree that, as it takes two people to produce a child, the fathers of all children should contribute to the upkeep of their offspring? If not this discriminates against the taxpayer, who has to take over this responsibility. Also, all mothers, married or not, should have the same allowances. If not, this discriminates against marriage.
Yours, etc.,
Greens Hill,
