Sir, - It was sad to see the usually perceptive Vincent Browne (Opinion, January 10th) playing to the growing anti-religious, anti-Catholic, anti-Christian gallery. Of course, in the current materialist culture which prevails in this society, much more respect is proffered to the beliefs of "exotic", non-Christian faiths - witness the interest shown in the Hindu festival of Kumbh Mela, where the indigenous faithful of India have been joined by Hollywood trendies.
Your paper should not encourage such a gratuitous insult to the sincerely-held religious views of more than a billion Christians throughout the world.Celtic tiger? No, more like myopic mutt. - Yours, etc.
