Sir, Gay Byrne's letter (October 2nd) is a curious cocktail for someone who is involved in the business of communication. It is difficult to understand why he uses words and phrases that are so highly charged and emotive.
There is nothing, I suggest, in Eddie Holt's review (September 28th) that can justify your correspondent's attempt to besmirch the honesty and good name of your TV columnist. Gay Byrne's remarks are highly inappropriate, even disturbing, and he has a duty to explain to your readers why they were made in the first place. - Yours, etc.,
