Sir, - Two great games, but are all our pitches too small for the modern game?
Two thoughts occurred to me about the senior game. Firstly, there were more often six players under the high ball than two, resulting in a melee rather than a fair and open contest. I suspect that this closeness may have accounted for the possibly natural frustration expressed in the first half.
The second thought was a sad one: with 30 fit and fast hurlers on a pitch maybe too small for them, we may never again see the flair of a Christy Ring. He needed space for that talent. That space doesn't exist any more. - Yours, etc.,
