Sir, – So, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has assured us that “Sir Humphrey hasn’t visited the Department of An Taoiseach in a very long time” (Dáil Sketch, July 11th). May I remind An Taoiseach of Sir Humphrey’s infamous four-stage strategy: 1. We say nothing is going to happen. 2. We say something may be about to happen, but we should do nothing about it. 3. We say that, maybe, we should do something about it, but there’s nothing we can do. 4. We say maybe there was something we could have done, but it’s too late now. – Yours, etc,
