Sir, - Opposition politicians have a bare faced cheek to continue to criticise the proposals made by the Minister for Justice, Ms Owen. I think that while the initiative was long overdue, it has to be welcomed and fully supported.
However, what really annoys me is listening to Fianna Fail whine on about the disgraceful increase in crime and question what the Government is doing. When they were in Government over 15 months ago, they did nothing about the problem. At least the Minister has begun the re organisation of the Gardai as well as dealing with the drugs problem.
Fianna Fail keep accusing the Government of playing politics with the crime issue but the reality is that it is they who are playing politics when they should be supporting the new measures. - Yours, etc.,
