Madam, – I had the great pleasure of seeing basking sharks up close, real close, off the coast of Ireland on a recent sea-kayaking trip. I also saw wild orchids growing on the slopes of one of Ireland’s highest mountains. We have one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world, fluidly etched by one of the biggest, most powerful oceans in the world, helping to create one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
For many reasons, we are so lucky, and with the current economic uncertainty I think it is easy to forget this. Perhaps we should focus more on what we have, something worth being thankful for, not indebted to. Something that is ours, something that is free, something that cannot be taken from us. – Yours, etc,
