Sir, - I am sick to death of hearing about the same people committing offence after offence while out on bail, and still they are granted bail every time. It is about time that we grew up and decided to tackle this problem.
If the sister or mother of some of those people opposing the change in our bail laws were viciously attacked by a man out on bail, would they change their attitude to the proposed amendment? I, for one, want this change to be passed. If anything, it doesn't go far enough.
The only pity I have is that next Thursday, I have only one vote. I am writing this letter so that people like me, who live in fear, will see the vote as the best opportunity to put persistent criminals where they belong behind bars. - Yours, etc.,
Churchtown,
Co Dublin.
