Madam, – Consultation process? Minister for Communications Eamon Ryan’s Opinion piece (May 21st) sounded very much like a man who has already made up his mind.
This is “Big Government” at its worst. Interfering in a successful business model by finding solutions to a problem that doesn’t exist. He should be careful he doesn’t get what he wishes for. Ireland’s recent rugby success is one of the few things that has distracted us from his Government’s gross mismanagement of the economy.

Madam, – Thank you for the supplement outlining the size and costs of the Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road (May 17th). At a cost per seat on a par with Wembley Stadium, its size is on a par with the Stadio Flaminio in Italy. Thus the true waste and cost of the stadium has been laid bare.
I regret to be the bearer of bad news to Joe Osborne (May 22nd), but there are two chances of him getting tickets for himself and his young sons to a game, and let’s just say “slim” is on his holidays, And at €300 plus for three tickets, there are few fathers in the country who could afford such outings.
That said, there are also two chances of him even getting to watch the matches on the television with his young sons, if the IRFU gets its way. So Mr Osborne might consider a different sport for his kids.
