Madam, – Knowing Sylvia Thompson as a journalist whose inquiring, independent mind has a number of times put me on my mettle to defend my case, I would suggest Dr Liam Healy’s subjective comments on her credibility fall very wide of the mark (April 8th). Research on Dr Healy’s part might broaden his perspective.
There are thousands of papers substantiating the value of what he terms “wacky pseudo-therapies”. Conventional medicine does not by any means have all the answers, and increasingly the medical professional recognises the value of complementary therapies – and of the therapeutic properties of foods in which, unfortunately, the medical profession has had little or no formal training. – Yours, etc,
