Sir, - Your Editorial on Music and RTE (February 13th) was almost juxtaposed with Michael Bowles's letter on the same theme. You apparently accept the official fiction that the RESO was established in 1947. If this is correct, then the conductor Michael Bowles, the orchestra and the enthusiastic audiences (including the undersigned) in the Capitol Theatre during the war years are officially non-persons.
In the Soviet era, pictures of leaders who had been "removed" were carefully edited out of official photographs. Your Editorial follows this dubious tradition. At least you allowed our distinguished maestro the right to reply. - Yours, etc.,
Kincora Road, Dublin 3.
