Sir, - In a reaction to John Waters's attempts to highlight the epidemic of suicide among young men in Ireland, the Rev Peter O'Callaghan (March 2nd) quotes meaningless American psychospeak to bolster his own theory which links male suicide with violent crime and the use of weapons in Ireland. How hurtful it must be for the relative of suicide victims to see their loved ones placed in the same category as violent criminals and gun-runners as per Peter O'Callaghan's "practical response". Shame on you, Rev O'Callaghan! - Yours, etc., John Deaton,
Dundrum, Dublin 14.
