'Slieve Callan's' return

Madam, – Three cheers for Jackie Whelan (“Restored steam engine back on track after 57 years”, July 2nd) who restored the beautiful Slieve Callan steam engine at his own expense.

This is exactly the kind of entrepreneurship Ireland needs during this recession.

Mr Whelan’s actions have brought back to life a part of Ireland’s magnificent railway heritage.

I hope that the new attraction on the restored section of the West Clare line will be a huge success.

I for one will be climbing aboard next time I am in Clare. – Yours, etc,
