'Sisters': 40 years of change

Madam, – I agree with A Leavy (May 28th) on the devastating role some men have played in wreaking havoc on our society

Madam, – I agree with A Leavy (May 28th) on the devastating role some men have played in wreaking havoc on our society. It is a comfort to know that we can always rely on women.

From the the wonderfully erudite Mary Coughlan, to the unsinkable Mary Harney, to the ethically pure Máire Geoghegan Quinn right back to the feminist Margaret Thatcher, women have always contributed handsomely (or should that be beautifully?) to this island's politics. Yet I think that the pinnacle of the feminist movement can be found in the form of Lady GaGa and Sex and the City 2. Come on ladies, buy those shoes and burn those bras! – Yours, etc,

Madam, – Until women find the “passing of wind” hilarious, we will never be equal. Let us celebrate our difference and be proud. – Yours, etc,
