Signposting In Ireland

Sir, - I can only sympathise with Claire Devender (August 25th), on signposting in Ireland.

I have lived in Germany for a number of years and it has a very simple signposting procedure. Each town or city, large or small is divided into districts. You follow the signposting for the district you want to get to. Once there you look for the street or building you are looking for.

An example for Dublin would be signposting such as "Dublin-Tallaght" or "Dublin-Donnybrook", and so on. Such a system would make it easier for everyone to get around. It is so simple to implement I┤m surprised that the city planners have not thought of it. - Yours, etc.,
