Sir, - I refer to the article in your edition of January 17th entitled "A ginger group campaign to require some Eircom directors to resign".
It is somewhat ironic that for the past few years both Mr Eamon Dunphy and Senator Shane Ross have both been prominent spokespersons on the public benefits of privatisation and the joys of a shareholder democracy.
Now the reality has hit home. As in the UK, the main beneficiaries of privatisation invariably are the big financial institutions and large shareholders. The idea that the little man like Mr Dunphy can have any real control has now been shown to be a fallacy. - Yours, etc.,
Sean Whelan, Ormond Keep, Nenagh, Co Tipperary.
