Sir, - On a recent visit to the motor taxation office in Chancery Street, getting my ticket number and then waiting for one and three quarters of an hour, I needed to use the toilet. I found to my amazement that in this public office there is no public convenience. Off I went in search of a toilet and, when I came back, found that my number had passed by and that I once again had to queue up and wait a further two hours for service. I got no help in any way from the staff, nor did I get any willingness from them to understand what had happened, even though one of the staff was the person who had told me that no toilet was available.
One feels that if one wishes to start any business that requires the public coming through, that now, by planning law one has to have toilets - why is this not the case with our public bodies? - Yours, etc.,
