A chara, - Bureaucracy can be such an ass sometimes! I am one of 26 parents from Leixlip, Celbridge and Maynooth who enrolled their children into Colaiste Chillian in Clondalkin this year. We were told at the end of July that our children could not avail of the subsidised school bus as there was another Irish second-level school opening nearer to us in October and we should use that one. A reasonable rule, one would think, until one looks at the realities.
The nearer Gaelscoil is full and can't take all 26 students. The bus continues to run to Clondalkin with brothers and sisters of our first-years, and there's room on it. We are forced to add to the existing traffic chaos on the N4 by driving our children to school (private buses were all booked up when we went searching in August). Needless to say we are operating car pools, but it does seem like bureaucracy gone mad when one Government Department is encouraging us to use buses and the other won't let us on them! - Is mise,
