Sir, - Regarding the recent letters in your paper on saving salmon the obvious solution, from an outsider's point of view, would seem to be to buy out the licensee compulsorily, as has already taken place in Greenland and the Faroes. No doubt funds would be available from Europe or other sources for this purpose.
The drift net fishermen should then be satisfied if a fair price was struck. This should result in, many, many more salmon in our rivers, with much benefit for the Irish people. - Yours, etc.,
