Sir, I would take issue with some of the recommendation indicated by Marion Finnegan in her article on rezoning, in the Property Section of The Irish Times (April 24th).
In the short term, as indicated in her article, a commitment to make available funding for the provision of services for land already zoned for residential purpose is required. However the rezoning of industrial lands for residential purposes could be extremely short sighted, unless it was part of an overall planned approach on a regional basis. A strategic regional plan is required which deals with among other things, the interrelationship of land use, infrastructure, provision of services, and the need for a sustainable approach to development at this regional level. - Yours, etc.,
