Sir, - In the light of bin Laden's threat of more aeroplane suicide hijackings and America's embarkation upon open-ended retaliation, where will it end? Indeed, how can it end, given the precedent of Israel and the Palestinians, with every atrocity provoking its atrocious knee-jerk reaction?
Surely economic melt-down cannot but ensue as the message of the twin-towers melt-down is digested and full fuel-load airliners are seen as ready-made tools for the terrorist.
Will those who don't have to fly (tourists in particular) continue to book tickets, even with Ryanair ? Or is this being too pessimistic ? - Yours, etc.,
Richard Reid, Rathgar Avenue, Dublin, 6.
