Madam, - The resignation of Caoimhe Máirtín from Coláiste Mhuire, Marino is bad news for Irish primary education. In a lifetime devoted to teaching she has been a giant of the profession, a forward-thinking and zealous enthusiast. She is held in high regard across this country and beyond as a leader of positive change.
I urge the management of the college to do everything is necessary to make Caoimhe Máirtín change her mind and reinstate her as soon as possible. To do otherwise is to do teacher training and primary education a grave disservice. - Yours, etc,
DAMIAN WHITE, Principal, Killeigh National School, Co Offaly.
