Sir, Richard Roche's interesting "Irishman's Diary" (May 6th) makes it clear that Co Wexford is well ahead in its preparations for the bicentenary of 1798. Antrim and Down, with a focal point in Belfast, are also making plans. Carlow, Meath and Mayo are moving too.
But what about Dublin, where the initial United Irish mobilisation was planned but thwarted? As the capital of Ireland, it should be in the van of any national commemorations in 1998. What about it, all you history societies, local communities, scholars and citizens? Will you remember `98? Yours, etc., Court Farm, Mulhuddart, Dublin 15.
