Madam, - Surely it would be the height of hypocrisy to prosecute Anjem Choudary for saying that Ireland is a target for al-Qaeda because of the use of Shannon by US forces (The Irish Times, November 12th).
His comments are merely a repetition of what many prominent media commentators, anti-war activists and certain Irish politicians have been broadcasting to the world since the Iraq war began.
If our own people are openly inviting such an interpretation of the Irish position, we can hardly blame Mr Choudary for concurring. - Yours, etc,
