Madam, – There are many worthwhile proposals in The Irish TimesEditorial on home repossessions and bankruptcy (February 19th). But it then goes on to conclude in regard to reform of the law on bankruptcy, "Crucially, it should be designed to provide protection for the homes of businessmen while encouraging the banks to deal more quickly with the issue of impaired loans".
If the homes of businessmen are sacrosanct, surely the same principle applies to everyone else, or is this another example of the perverse process by which the worse our economic crisis becomes the more socially inequitable the solutions proposed?
– Yours, etc,
