Sir, - I have been disturbed by the racism which a number of Africans studying in Ireland have experienced and spoken to me about. Such evidence of growing racism in Ireland raises questions about what people here are doing when they take the Eucharist. If Christians receive the Eucharist without their action signifying a commitment to social justice or a desire to make such a commitment, then their reception of the Eucharistic Jesus is not, I believe, fully Christian, because Jesus died as a result of his commitment to reveal God's inclusive love. - Yours, etc.,
