Sir, - It really requires some lateral thinking to come up with a Budget that is the most generous ever and yet manages to attract such criticism.
A Minister for Finance who proposes a Budget with such built-in elements for self-destruction and a Cabinet that accepts it deserve all the abuse that has been heaped on them.
