Sir, - When one finds oneself in a hole it is generally a good idea to stop digging. Unfortunately, our Minister for Finance, having dug himself into a hole, seems determined to keep digging and makes matters worse with each turn of the spade.
Perhaps it is time for:
the Minister to resign;
the Government to withdraw the Budget;
