Sir, – I don’t think the public is “gloating about the misfortunes of the Quinn family” as John Waters suggests (Opinion, July 27th). What “the public” is annoyed about is a feeling that the business had become a house of cards. The Quinns’ reluctance to comply with relevant legislation, coupled with greed, brought the house down. The judge’s remarks about the Quinns’ behaviour confirmed widely held beliefs. Seán Quinn did not appear to be a man who would grasp the concept of “enough for now”, as quoted by John Waters. – Yours, etc,
